MSA Application Checklist

We are happy that you are interested in applying to our program. Interested applicants who are applying to MSA must be current sophomores in high school.

Please complete all the steps below in order for your application to be considered:

College Entrance Exams

When taking the College Entrance Exam, use the follow UTRGV codes:
  1. UTRGV SAT code: 6568
  2. UTRGV ACT code: 6991

Students applying to MSA must have taken or be currently enrolled in:

  • Algebra I
  • Algebra II
  • Geometry
  • Spanish I or Alternative Sequence
  • Spanish 2 or Alternative Sequence
  • Biology
  • Chemistry or IPC or Physics
  • English I
  • English II 
  • World Geography or World History

Note* Students pending a credit may call the campus to see if alternative options are available. 

Students must have completed or be in the process of completing the course by the end of the academic year.


Meningitis Vaccine

Once accepted into the Mathematics and Science Academy, students must provide proof of meningitis vaccination. In accordance with Texas law, UTRGV requires all first-time students, including transfer and returning students under the age of 22, to submit evidence that the student has been vaccinated against bacterial meningitis 10 days prior to the first class day of the semester or to provide other documentation establishing why such a vaccination is not required.  Students will not be allowed to enroll without providing proof of the vaccination or exemption.
