Dia De Los Muertos
The UTRGV Residence Life Department celebrates Dia De Los Muertos with a baile to celebrate and honor the dead. The event will take place at UTRGV Brownsville’s Casa Bella pool area (BCASA) on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 6 PM-9 PM.
The first 250 students to attend will receive a free Day of the Dead T-shirt sponsored by Pepsi! All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to join the Housing Department in honoring the dead.
Nayeli Garcia Housing Coordinator says, “Dia de Los Muertos is an important traditional event in the Latin American culture where the lives of those who have passed are celebrated rather than being mourned for. As a custom, the baile will consist of music, drinks, food, and an altar where students are free to place pictures of their late loved ones.”
