How to Apply for Graduate Admission at UTRGV

We're committed to uncovering the entirety of who you are and how you'll thrive within UTRGV's dynamic academic atmosphere through our holistic and personalized application process.

  • Complete the UTRGV online application at www.utrgv.edu/gradapply.
  • Review specific admission requirements for your program on the Graduate Programs page.
  • Pay the application fee online if required.

  • Send official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities to:
    • Email:

  • Official transcripts are those issued directly by the institution at which the coursework was completed, or the degree earned.
  • Provide certified English translations and a foreign credential evaluation for degrees earned outside of the United States.
Note: If you attended UTRGV or one of our legacy institutions, The University of Texas-Pan American or The University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College, no formal request needs to be made. We will upload your official transcripts to your application after you submit it.

  • Submit official GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, IELTS or other required test scores.
  • UTRGV codes: GRE - 6570, GMAT – 9P3

Note: Not all programs require an admissions or entrance exam. Review specific admission requirements for your program on the Graduate Programs page.

  • Provide certified English translations and foreign credential evaluations for degrees earned outside the U.S. Visit the Foreign Credential Evaluation page for more details.
  • Submit English Proficiency Exam scores if applicable. To view detailed information on acceptable English Proficiency exam scores we accept, and exemptions visit the English Proficiency Exam page.

Clery Act

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes information on safety and security policies, including crime and fire statistics for the previous three years.

The report is available on the University Police website at: https://utrgv.link/csr2024. A hard copy of the report is available at the University Police Departments located on 501 N. Sugar Rd. (Edinburg), 2671 FJRM Ave. (Brownsville), 2102 Treasure Hills Blvd. (Harlingen), or 1937 East Bustamante Street (Laredo), also by contacting University Police at 956-882-7777.
