The online 1098-T consent election process is now available. You have the option to receive your 1098-T, ‘Tuition Statement’ electronically via the UTRGV Student Self-service portal (ASSIST) for reporting year 2025.
 
By selecting the ‘I Consent.’ option, you will not receive a paper copy, and the electronic 1098-T will be available on ‘ASSIST’ before January 31^st.
 
By selecting the ‘I Do Not Consent.’ option, or if no action is taken, a paper 1098-T form will be mailed to you on or by January 31^st via US Postal Service to the mailing address on record in ‘ASSIST’.
 
The deadline to consent to an electronic 1098-T or to withdraw consent is the third Monday of every January.
 
A student’s consent is valid for all subsequent tax years unless revoked by the student or the student is no longer active with the university.
 
You can print a copy of your 1098-T via ASSIST > My Finances > Tax Notification 1098-T. The form can also be saved as a PDF if the student has access to ‘Print to PDF’ or similar functionality. Adobe Acrobat Reader or similar software would be necessary to open a PDF copy of your 1098-T.
 
If you decide to withdraw consent and revert to the traditional mailed paper copy, you may update your election via ASSIST > General Student > Action Item > Form 1098-T – Electronic Consent > select ‘I Do Not Consent’.
 
To ensure accuracy, please review and update your current mailing address via ASSIST by the second Monday of January.
