Debra Torres is a Senior HR Business Partner for the University of Rio Grande Valley and began working for the legacy University of Pan American in 2013. Currently, as a Senior HR Business Partner, Debra conducts workplace investigations, provides workplace accommodations, assists with University Leave policies, assists supervisors with performance management, and collaborates with the Provost’s office regarding faculty employee relations issues. Before working with Human Resources, Debra worked as a Judicial Affairs Officer with Student Rights and Responsibilities assisting students navigate their academic careers and enforcing the Student Conduct Code in partnership with various departments and employees at the University. Debra’s experience includes over ten years of investigations, including Title IX-related issues and employee misconduct, as well as policy interpretation, and addressing various concerns.
Debra holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice, a Master’s of Arts degree in Public Affairs, and is a graduate of the inaugural Master of Higher Education Administration Program.
