Course Syllabus Template

As required by House Bill 2504, each institution of higher education, other than medical and dental units, is to make certain course information available to the public on the institution's website. UTRGV maintains compliance with this bill through Simple Syllabus, the university’s new syllabus management tool. The UTRGV Simple Syllabus Library has all published syllabi visible on its website. Please note the following with the use of Simple Syllabus:

• Simple Syllabus has replaced the syllabus upload process in Watermark Faculty Success (FPT). Faculty are no longer required to upload syllabi to their Scheduled Teaching screen within Faculty Success. Instead, all syllabi are created and maintained directly within the UTRGV Simple Syllabus Library. Please note, if a faculty member wishes for the syllabus to appear in their dossier or CV, it would still need to be manually loaded into Faculty Success.

• Simple Syllabus is integrated into Brightspace and provides a single, consistent location for syllabus creation and updates, reducing duplication and simplifying long-term access. Faculty should access Simple Syllabus through their Brightspace course shell.

• Special topics courses requested through the Office of Curriculum and Instruction will be required to provide a sample syllabus in Word before the course is approved to be placed on the schedule. Please reach out to Faculty Affairs at facultyaffairs@utrgv.edu to request a templated document that mirrors UTRGV’s institutional syllabus template.
