Engagement Zone is an online platform and application that UTRGV uses to track community engagement across the Rio Grande Valley. It helps students, faculty, and community volunteers to track hours, communicate with community organizations, and build a volunteer portfolio.

Engagement Zone is also used for Service Learning academic courses at UTRGV.

Engagement Zone is a free platform to all UTRGV students, faculty, and staff. It is also free and available for use by Rio Grande Valley community members. You can visit Engagement Zone by clicking here or by pasting this link into your browser: ez.utrgv.edu/

Engagement Zone is used for service learning-designated classes for academic credit, but you can also use it you want to help Rio Grande Valley community organizations as a volunteer.

Engagement Zone is managed by the Office of Community Engagement and the Nonprofit Resource Center at UTRGV. Eligible UTRGV students can apply to fund their community projects with the Engaged Scholar & Artist Awards. Solo projects and team collaborations can apply for $2,000 to $4,000 in materials, wages, and travel awards. UTRGV faculty can collaborate with our department to designate their courses as service learning. This benefits students as they receive more direct in-classroom support from our office as they use Engagement Zone.

In tracking their courses with our office, faculty will also receive reports that detail their course's impact on the community. These documented reports can be used as documentation of faculty engagement in the community. UTRGV faculty can also support students that have a strong interest in community-driven projects by serving as their faculty mentor. Eligible UTRGV students can apply to fund their community projects with the Engaged Scholar & Artist Awards (ESAA).
