Artist Statement

personal logoI was able to become involved in art in middle school. Even though I did not take the class seriously I always had an exciting time attending. We were always doing something different which never made the class boring. Having friends in class made the projects a lot more fun and made it easier to become involved in art. My teacher was one of the reasons why I really enjoyed going to class and learning new art techniques. She let us have creative freedom with our projects which always made it exciting for the outcome of the projects. The environment of the class was always bright with art supplies everywhere and that made me want to learn more. At the end of the class, we were able to put all out work into a portfolio with everything we did throughout the school year. I enjoy looking at the variety of artwork that I was able to make that year. Being able to use the basic skills that I remember from class has been extremely helpful in recent designs. They were also particularly useful in high school with any assignment that involved art. Despite taking another art class my sophomore year in high school it was not as impactful as my first art class. But I was still able to learn a couple more art methods. One of the techniques that I recall the most from that class would be blending. For the first time in art class I was introduced to different mediums, and we were able to experiment with them. The most memorable assignment that I enjoyed was creating bowls out of clay. Even though I did not know much about design at the beginning I have been able to improve from remembering and incorporating what I learned from the art classes. Being able to receive feedback in my designs has been I huge help in refining my work. These past few classes have taught me great quantity about design. I have been able to become more invested in art and my work every time I do a new assignment or project. Being able to improve my work is something I look forward to doing in the future.
