Artist Statement

personal logoIn the beginning, I didn't really know what I wanted or what I wanted to do. I was just going with the flow and never really had an interest openly that I could speak of. When I started art, I was not a fan of it, due to the concept of what classified as art being limited to me at the time. However, later in high school, I figured out that art was vaster than I could think of. The first time I worked with digital works and photography had opened my mind and heart to new possibilities. Along with implanting a flame for a passion I never saw myself pursuing or thinking of. Being a graphic designer and having a dream to make movie posters and other big commercial works.

It all started in my high school's computer labs where I was first introduced to the profession as my teacher had also been a designer before. He showed me that I could do many things and that there was a niche for almost everything. The times I created photographic works for competitions and posters for public and personal works was one of the times I felt like I was growing. As if I was finding what I wanted to do and be after all the time of uncertainty. When I graduated and entered university, I had set out to be a graphic designer and found myself segmenting with the idea of what I chose, as the more I worked, the more I was building to represent myself. The journey I had gone through has shaped me to what I am today, and I honestly think that I wouldn't change my choices and passion, for I have found who I am. After all, each artist is unique and their own type of self. With me still discovering and expressing my ideas through one of my best inspirations and mediums I use, which is my mask. Whether it was for painting, drawing, or even for photography works, my mask would always be something I could creativly use to express myself and my ideas. I was even able to use it for this semester's inspirations for half of my works so far. Even with my exhibits work idea was inspired and supported by my masks use and creative use. Just as I had grown with it, it too has grown in my works and mind.
