Artist Statement
I have always made little doodles on my notebooks since I was a kid, as every artist does. I started to get into art in middle school. I would draw little scenes of myself being somewhere else rather than school. And once I got into high school, I had to choose a career path and I chose to go into a medical career. I enjoyed it for some parts, I couldn’t relate to my peers around me as much. I was probably the only nursing major that has never seen Grey’s Anatomy. When choosing my classes, I would choose art classes as an elective. It was always my favorite class. The teachers let us listen to music and focus on our work; it was always a good time. I have always wanted to make art, but I had to put all my focus on my studies.
Eventually, in college, I switched majors because I have always wanted to create. I wanted to do something that made me happy and something that was new and that evolves over time. I did my research and I saw that there were plenty of animation classes and studio classes that I wanted to take so I decided to switch majors. Now, the classes that I’m taking got me my current job and have helped me put the knowledge that I’m learning in class into real-world scenarios.
As I write this artist statement, I feel so inspired and motivated to use the skills and knowledge I have learned through my college years. I have so much knowledge under my belt, and I eventually want to touch on every visual communication field at least once in my life. I want to create things I love making and share them with the world. One of my dreams is to work in an animation studio. I want to create something meaningful for my younger self and move others the way animation has moved me.
