Artist Statement
My passion for the arts was sparked when I was convinced to participate in the Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event back in 2014. My art teacher was the one who saw my skills and thought that I should compete in the competition. I won a gold and silver medal on my piece, and I will never forget the joy I felt carrying those medals home and showing them to my parents. In high school, I continued to compete in the Visual Art Scholastic Event in all of my four years, each piece of mine won a perfect score medal. During college, I was briefly pursuing engineering before I decided on graphic design. Through an epiphany I had, I wanted to pursue my passion for the arts and use that as my source of income. In graphic design, I am able to help people to create their designs to life.
In my artwork, I love to place a lot of symbolism and meaning. If you see a specific object there, there is a purpose why it is placed. I construct a story within the piece, and I sometimes leave the audience to interpret. Through my designs, I create an effort in forming beautiful designs that are pleasing to the eyes. My symbols are subtle, and they are not as obvious as to what they signify. I like to hide them through subtlety. I hope that one day I can at least create a footprint in society even if it's a small one. I want my name to at least exist when you google search it .
Through my process, I mostly gain inspiration through the night when the world is asleep. My mind tends to wander and ideas start to form. Once there is something I like, I immediately grab a sketchbook or paper and jot it down before I forget it the next morning. While I work, I need to have music in the background. The nice rhythm and melody of the songs get me going. I do so much research on the internet to find the meaning behind some objects or symbols. I organize my ideas, research, and I start making a sketch that will lead to the finished piece.
