Artist Statement
When it comes to art, I believe ideas can't be rushed and they need to be given their proper time to develop. With the process of creating art comes the feeling of frustration born from the passion to reach perfection. As an artist who struggles with temperament issues, art has driven out a different kind of frustration in wanting to be the best which I use to fuel myself through the countless hours of work.
Illustration has been a passion that has stood the test of time as drawing has been something I’ve loved doing since my childhood. Manga artists such as the late Kentaro Miura inspire me to push my illustrative skills despite the amount of hours it can consume. I always look to improve as only time and persistence will reveal the level of skill I’m capable of.
When it comes to illustrating my preferred methods of work for traditional art consists of using graphite, ink, and charcoal. I’ve never been a fan of traditional coloring however, when I do want to create colorful art I’ll take it in the digital route using Photoshop to create digital paintings which allow me to experiment without the fear of having to restart from scratch. I look to create my own clothing line which I can use to show off my illustrations and hopefully be able to acquire licensing to create designs consisting of manga characters I grew up with. I’ll of come full circle and back to drawing anime as I did when I first started drawing.
