Artist Statement

personal logoI am Lily Sanchez. I’ve been involved with the arts since I was about 5 years old. Crafts and drawing were something I remember doing a lot of when I was younger. I think this was due to my creative family. My mother used to create jewelry and my father paints vehicles for a living. Among other creative hobbies that they possess, I heavily look up to them for everything. They are my biggest inspiration. Self-validation is important to me but also the validation from my family. After all I’m only able to go ahead with this career because of all the support they’ve given me. Although I didn’t always see myself going into a career path that dealt with the arts, I’m glad I am here now. I did quite well in high school, especially when I chose to really focus on my studies. Although, art classes for me were always the most fun but primarily relaxing. I personally feel like I get lost when creating art but in a positive way that allow me to unleash my creative ideas to the world. I feel like that brings peace to the mind of us artists. Other motives I think evolved my interest in communication design, was my love for video games and cartoon animations. Anytime I look at any form of digital art I always consider the amount of dedication and time put into the work. It makes me appreciate it much more. I’ve never been good with technology, in fact initially I was overwhelmed when I began using programs for graphic design, but I was up for the challenge. Here I am now, I’ve gathered some experience and now feel confident on what I’m capable of achieving.

Which is why I think it’s important to believe in our own work. Once one has achieved that, it makes sharing it to the world much easier and fulfilling. Which then opens the possibility to other artists in having chance to view your work and maybe even be inspired themselves. Everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves. I think every artist has something unique to show the world.

One should always be open to accepting challenges. It’s all about dedication and breaks. You can’t solve a problem without dedicating time to it. But you also must know when to step back and breath. We’re human and sometimes it’s too much, so willing to accept a much needed pause to refresh is also important. I have always been quite competitive; with myself especially. Creating something I’m proud of is always the goal. I find fulfillment in knowing I did my best. I’ve learned a lot and I am excited to keep on learning from life’s trials.
