Exhibit Work

As an avid daydreamer, I often think about the sky and the various stages it goes through from day to night, as well as outer space. Specifically, the moon has always been a constant form of inspiration for my design work. There is a surreal and fantastical feeling when it comes from outer space and the moon. This leads to what my final project is highly influenced by. It combines fantasy and mythology which are both things I enjoy learning and partaking from.

My exhibit is based around a production company, Studio Ether, with the main focus of a tabletop game called Somnium. It’s a turn-based game with six characters derived from the planets from our solar system that have moons. Often referred to as satellites, moons are constant companions to the planets they orbit. The moons would pose as support cards for their respective planets as they go against one another. In turn, the planets’ attacks would mostly be based around their Greek mythological counterpart.

With the project’s idea in mind, it consists of a poster, packaging, and product design. The poster displays a few cards, while the product showcases the majority of the cards designs. The packaging is a card deck that holds both the cards and dice. While I do not have a lot of experience with tabletop games, my recent experience playing one motivated my projects’ direction for this spring semester.
