Artist Statement
I’ve been interested in art since I was a kid but I started taking it seriously when I entered high school. My preferred creative outlet was traditional painting and drawing until my sophomore year of high school when I was enrolled in graphic design courses at South Texas College. I was exposed to another side of the art world and knew I wanted to pursue this as a career. I graduated with my associates in graphic design and was able to enroll at UTRGV as a sophomore in 2020. The time I've spent here has been incredible and I've learned so much. I have grown so much as an artist and have tried mediums I never thought I would touch. I love being able to bring ideas to life and being able to communicate ideas through just design.
Graphics design is like trying to figure out a puzzle, to find the right composition, typeface, and style to make a design work. I just have to keep trying different pieces to complete it. Sometimes you have to start all over again and that is okay. There isn't one way to design which is what makes it so challenging to make one that feels right to you. I hope to create designs that inspire others. Inspiration comes to me from everywhere, reading signs and analyzing logos, people I pass by, music, and media. I want people to take something from my work. That is how I want to impact society.
