Bom Ave

I'm at that one point in my life where I am realizing how truly special it is to be a Rio Grande Valley native. As the years go by, I discover brand new things to be proud of in my home that my region siblings may not be familiar with. While it is remarkable in many ways, few know of its credit to being one of the best birding locations in North America. Due to its geographical location, the RGV is somewhat of a funnel migrating birds fly through to reach their destinations. While they pass by and rest their wings here before continuing their grand trip, birders from all over the country take the opportunity and visit the sun kissed RGV to gaze at grand flying travelers. With the Rio Grande Valley essentially being the “Right time, right place” embodiment of North American birding, Bom Ave magazine highlights the beauty and honor that goes noticed by only a niche group. Bom Ave aims to bring lower valley art, culture, and nature to the forefront of mainstream nature and science journals. What I love about my fellow 956'ers is that we are trying to amplify the valley's visibility within their own fields, and together we'll show the bright warm light that it holds. With the conclusion of this project, it's made me realize I have a passion for researching and designing for nature topics, I hope to work within the field and bring the valley charm to it.
