I used to cut newspaper text columns and arrange them on white paper sheets along with magazine colorful pictures and call them “books” when I was 4. Only a few months ago, on the first semester of my last year in college, is that I realize what I had done back then was making very rough drafts of magazines. Back then I was just having fun trying to mimic the mesmerizing magazines about marine life and vacation sites I had at home, not knowing this path would allow me to make art. Now, I want my work to be that spark that shines and attracts other people. That thing that makes somebody go “ooh pretty colors”, and also make them say “I want to make something as good as that”. My inspiration in graphic design is David Carson, for I strongly believe that there is more to be explored if we see pass the traditional rules and guidelines for design. It’s good to have a plan, but having creative liberty is to me the key to unique innovation.
