Artist Statement
My involvement in communication design started with a deep appreciation for visual communication and evolved into a professional pathway that allows me to make a difference in my community. What began as a personal passion has transformed into a career focused on using design to create meaningful change. Early on, I offered my design services to build a portfolio, and this hands-on experience led me to a role in marketing and communications at a nonprofit Business Resource Center, where my work now helps shape the community I care about.
For me, design is not just about aesthetics; it’s about impact. I believe that design has the power to drive community improvement and promote economic development. My work with university centers, economic development corporations, and chambers of commerce aims to support initiatives that directly benefit my region. It’s important to me that my designs contribute to the growth of the local economy and help foster a sense of progress and collaboration within the community.
My creative process is grounded in research and collaboration. I approach each project by deeply understanding my clients’ needs and the audiences they serve. By working closely with peers and clients, I strive to create designs that clearly communicate their vision and purpose. Ultimately, my goal is to use communication design as a tool for positive change, ensuring that my work not only serves my clients but also helps the community as a whole.
In addition to community-focused work, I see communication design as a way to connect people through shared ideas and experiences. Design has the ability to make information accessible, engaging, and impactful, and I aim to harness that potential in everything I create. Whether it's promoting local initiatives or bringing attention to regional projects, my goal is to create designs that foster understanding and inspire action. I believe that through thoughtful and intentional design, we can bridge gaps, spark conversations, and create a lasting sense of unity within our communities.
