Exhibit Work

The Space Flakes cereal box design is all about taking something ordinary and giving it a new, imaginative twist. I was inspired by the bold, colorful advertising of the 1960s, when the space race and the idea of the future captured people’s imaginations. My goal with this project was to bring that sense of wonder and excitement into something as simple as a cereal box, making it feel like part of a bigger adventure.

The design uses classic 60s elements like vibrant colors, retro fonts, and space-themed graphics—think rockets, planets, and astronauts. These images were a big part of how people back then thought about the future, and I wanted to channel that excitement into the design. By doing this, Space Flakes turns breakfast into more than just a meal; it’s almost like you’re preparing for a mini space mission every morning. The packaging takes you back to a time when the future seemed full of endless possibilities, and it makes something everyday feel fun and exciting.

For me, this project is also a reminder that even the most routine parts of life—like pouring cereal—can feel special if we look at them differently. Space Flakes reflects that sense of curiosity and adventure, showing that you don’t need to go to space to experience a little bit of magic. It’s a nod to a time when we dreamed big about the future, but it also speaks to the idea that creativity can transform even the smallest, most ordinary things into something inspiring.

This design also taps into the nostalgic charm of vintage packaging, reminding us of a time when advertisements were full of personality and optimism. The exaggerated space themes and playful visuals in Space Flakes are not just about looking back at a retro style, but also about capturing the joy and excitement that came with imagining what the future could be. It’s a celebration of that era’s creativity and the sense that anything was possible, whether it was space travel or simply a fun, new cereal. By merging the past’s hopeful vision of the future with the everyday act of eating breakfast, Space Flakes creates a whimsical connection between imagination and reality.
