Artist Statement
I was a freshman in high school when I realized I had a passion for visual communication and graphic design. The use of colors, textures and types in the media we consume has always appealed to me. It wasn’t until I had to create a poster for a high school play that I knew I was going to do this as a career. I attended classes and met new people that were just like me, passionate for graphic and visual communication elements. We collectively mastered our craft, delved into the deepest spaces of our brains and realized there is nothing we can’t design once we put our mind into it.
My work is a personal collection of mosaics all perfectly curated to share my experience. I speak through my art and designs. As I learned more and more about graphic design, I acquired skills that not only help me translate my ideas into a visual and physical composition but into a storytelling form. I hope someday these skills lead me to change society for the better, as an art influence or perhaps as something else not discovered yet. I can say with complete confidence that being surrounded by such talented friends and peers has influenced my art, my style and the way I carry myself in the world. As we leave the structure and framework of school behind and begin to chart our own journeys, we may credit every choice that leads to the next to ourselves and the people we learned from.
I stand by a work ethic, that creativity and willingness to bring ideas to life is key. It is important not to forget about the environment and society we work and exist in. We must be mindful and respectful towards each other so we can make what we call our existence a little more bearable. For problem solving, it is best to tackle the issue with an open mind and serene stance. There is still much I’ve to learn about this industry, but for right now, I can only hope that every project I take on will help me improve and become better for the next one.
