Artist Statement

personal logoAs a first generation Mexican-American artist, my work is a reflection of the complex and vibrant intersection of my cultural heritage and personal experiences. I am deeply influenced by my Mexican roots, my family's stories, and the dynamic tapestry of life in two different countries. Through my art, I aim to explore, celebrate, and challenge the multifaceted aspects of my identity and the world around me.

Growing up in a bicultural household, I have always been fascinated by the juxtaposition of traditions, languages, and perspectives. This duality is a central theme in my work. All my life I lived in the border city of Laredo, Texas, which borders Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. With that, I have never been able to conclude whether I belong here nor there, but what I am certain about is having the ability to make a place of my own in my work. I hope that first generation Mexican- Americans like me are able to see their reflection in my artistry, and know that they too, belong.
Nonetheless, when faced with trials and tribulations, creating and exploring new horizons through my artistry helps improve not only my state of mind, but my sense of creativity. When in doubt of my own abilities, I remember the person that I am, and the family that built me to be the strongest version of myself that could possibly exist. My success is not measured through popularity nor praise, but with the impact it may cause for others, good or bad.
