About Us

Welcome to the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley! Our vision is to inspire reflection and collaboration in teaching and learning at UTRGV. We want to make teaching and learning a public practice where faculty learn from each other. Whether you are a tenured faculty member with 25 years of experience, new faculty member, or graduate teaching assistant, our goal is to create space for conversations on teaching and learning.

CTE offers a wide range of programming and services to promote teaching and learning. We offer an annual teaching and learning symposium, interactive conversations on teaching, learning communities, learning circles, graduate teaching assistant institute, certificate in peer review of teaching, and faculty spotlight on teaching series. We also provide individual and departmental consultations in target teaching areas. In the near future, we will develop course design institutes, UTRGV teaching academy, and last lecture series. Our goals are to create long-term professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance teaching and learning.

Our CTE team is ready to help you with your teaching interests, needs, and goals. We hope that you will consider attending a workshop, leading a conversation on teaching, or talking with us about teaching and learning.
