SACSCOC Approves UTRGV’s Fifth Year Interim Report
Dear Faculty and Staff,
We are pleased to announce that UTRGV's Fifth Year Interim Report was approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) with no recommendations or requests for additional reports. Our next reaffirmation report submission is due in August 2026.
UTRGV submitted its Fifth Year Interim Report to SACSCOC in March 2023, which addressed our continuing compliance with federal requirements and SACSCOC’s most frequently cited standards. The report also included an impact summary of our Quality Enhancement Plan, which focused on academic advising.
These SACSCOC reports are massive undertakings, requiring months of drafting and years of preparation and documentation. We could not have completed the process without the help of offices and individuals across the University, including the Office of Curriculum and Institutional Assessment, the Office of the Provost, the Division of Strategic Enrollment and Student Affairs, Strategic Analysis and Institutional Reporting, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications, the Graduate College, and each of the colleges and schools.
We would also like to recognize the faculty assessment coordinators. Student learning outcomes (SLO) assessment is central to all successful accreditation reports. While our work on SLO assessment is never truly finished, we want to acknowledge the significant contributions that faculty assessment coordinators have made in the years and months ahead of this successful review. The time and effort required to organize programmatic assessment and respond to peer feedback is daunting. But our faculty's commitment to growth, continuous improvement, and student success made a difference in achieving this critical milestone. We appreciate their work and the dedicated college assessment teams who have been instrumental in ensuring these processes are prioritized and implemented in every academic program.
Sincerely,
Christine Shupala, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President for Institutional Accreditation
