Happy Black History Month!
Dear UTRGV Family,
February is Black History Month — a time dedicated to honoring the triumphs and struggles of African Americans, past and present. This year’s theme, set by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History — the official promoter of Black History Month — is Black Resistance.
UTRGV proudly stands with our brothers and sisters at Historically Black Colleges and Universities to combat racism and promote equal opportunities for students of color. While this commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion guides our work, Black History Month reminds us that everyone has the power to make a difference.
Black History Month is a time to reflect, but it is also a time to celebrate. We encourage all community members to check the UTRGV Calendar, VLink, UTRGV Messenger and the Black History Month page for events happening on campus over the coming weeks (event details are subject to change).
