Parking Update: Schunior Street Closure & Brownsville Construction
Dear Campus Community,
As we return to campus next week for the Spring Semester, we are providing the latest information to help enhance your parking experience.
The City of Edinburg’s Schunior Street Reconstruction Project, which will help improve pedestrian safety around the campus, remains ongoing and the City of Edinburg expects completion of the project later this year.
While Schunior remains closed from Closner to Jackson, all parking lots on the Edinburg campus are open for use except for remote lot E35 (near the UTRGV soccer field). Please remember that, as was the case during the fall semester, the entrances to parking lots along W. Schunior Street are unavailable because of the city street closure.
While the following parking lots cannot be accessed via W. Schunior Street, they are still accessible via alternative access points:
- E32 (baseball stadium)
- E9 (west of SOM)
- E11 (SOM)
- E30 & E31 (adjacent to ROTC)
- E22 & E23 (adjacent to EHS)
- E25 & E26 (north of EEDUC)
Click here for a map of all zoned parking lots and road closures.
Please Note:
In Edinburg, entrances to Parking lot E16 along Nevarez Dr. are paved and ready for use.
In Brownsville, all lots remain open for use despite construction near parking lots B1 and B2. However, construction may require closures and re-routing as the semester progresses.

Overflow Parking and VOLT Service
As a reminder, overflow parking is available remotely on both the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses:
- E33 (north of the baseball field)
- E34 (behind the REC)
- B4 (south of Casa Bella)
Additionally, our VOLT service provides free shuttles from the remote lots to the campus proper. View the VOLT circuits by clicking here.
