Weather Alert: Hard Freeze and Wind Warnings

Dear UTRGV Community,
The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting a strong cold front in our region starting the afternoon of Thursday, December 22 through early Friday, December 23. During this time, temperatures are expected to drop sharply, with lows on Friday morning dipping below freezing.
Given the timing and nature of this front, UTRGV will remain open and operate as scheduled on Thursday, December 22.
Wind & Hard Freeze
According to the NWS, this front will bring wind gusts and the potential for a hard freeze watch/warning into the weekend. Please monitor your local weather service for updates as the front nears.
Stay Informed
As previously stated, UTRGV will continue to operate as normal on Thursday, December, 22. However, University officials will continuously monitor weather conditions and share any changes to operations schedules through email, the emergency notification system, on the UTRGV homepage, the UTRGV Alert page, and UTRGV’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.
As a reminder, the University will be closed from Friday, December 23 through Sunday, January 1, 2023, for the Winter Break.
Sincerely,
Office of Emergency Management
