Weather Alert: Monitoring Tropical Wave

Dear Campus Community:
The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring a tropical wave over the Bay of Campeche. As of now (Friday, August 19), this disturbance has an 80 percent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone over the next two days.
According to officials, the Rio Grande Valley can expect scattered showers and thunderstorms with the potential for heavy rainfall this Saturday and Sunday (August 20 & 21).
Stay Informed
All UTRGV community members are advised to stay informed about this emerging weather event through local weather and news outlets as the situation develops.
University officials will continue to monitor weather conditions, and any change to the operations schedule will be shared through email, the emergency notification system, on UTRGV Alert, and on UTRGV’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.
