Weather Alert: Potential for Flooding and Unsafe Driving Conditions

Dear Campus Community:
The National Weather Service is forecasting showers and thunderstorms across the Rio Grande Valley through tomorrow evening (August 15).
At this time, all UTRGV and UT Health RGV campus/remote operations are expected to resume as scheduled on Monday, August 15, unless otherwise notified.
Stay Safe
The rainfall from these storms has the potential to cause flooding in low-lying communities and create difficult or unsafe driving conditions. If you are unable to access a UTRGV location due to localized flooding, please notify your supervisor, department chair, or faculty member(s).
Please be aware that there is potential for flooding in the following campus parking lots/streets:
Edinburg:
- E16 (by HPEI, north side of lot up to Child Development Center)
- E14 (north of Computer Center)
- E6 (south side of Performing Arts Center)
- Nevarez Dr. (city street; east side of campus)
Brownsville:
- FJRM Ave. (between lots B4 and B7)
Stay Informed
University officials will continue to monitor weather conditions and any change to the operations schedule will be shared through email, the emergency notification system, on UTRGV Alert, and on UTRGV’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.
Sincerely,
Office of Emergency Management
