Summer Starts HERE!

Commitment to Safety & Success

Friday, June 3, 2022 :: UTRGV Announcements

Dear UTRGV Family,

Monday, June 6, marks the start of the Summer (I) Term. And though there are typically fewer people and events on our campuses this time of year, knowing where to find the things you need is always in season.

Whether you're new or have been here a while, utrgv.edu/welcomeback is a good starting point. This site is full of resources for students, faculty, and staff and is also a critical part of our ongoing commitment to your safety, success, and experience.

Worried you missed some important campus-wide announcements? You can find those and so much more, including information about campus services, IT support, and mental health resources.

REMINDER: COVID-19 Screening & Testing Process

While we are still in a pandemic, improved conditions across Texas have given way to a new phase in how UTRGV manages COVID-19 within our university community.

Since May 16, UTRGV community members have been responsible for their own COVID-19 screening and testing. Critical to this new process is the proper utilization of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Quarantine and Isolation Calculator, a free tool that helps individuals determine what to do based on their unique situation.

For more on UTRGV's updated COVID-19 screening and testing process, visit utrgv.edu/covid-screening.

Emergency Procedures

We never know when a life-threatening emergency may occur, but we can always prepare for one. The latest series of gun-related violence around the country is a stark reminder that safety is both a personal and shared responsibility. UTRGV’s Office of Emergency Management has resources and procedures for various emergencies, including recommendations on what to do during an active shooter event, bomb threat, hurricane, severe weather, or fire.

If you ever face these kinds of threats on campus, follow these procedures and call University Police at 956-882-4911 when it is safe to do so.

Please send questions related to these emergency procedures to emergencymanagement@utrgv.edu and those about UTRGV’s COVID-19 screening process and campus operations to welcomeback@utrgv.edu.

Thank you for doing your part to help ensure all UTRGV community members have an enjoyable, productive, and safe campus experience.
