UPDATE: COVID-19 Booster Expansion
Dear UTRGV Family,
Following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) latest recommendation, UT Health RGV is now offering pediatric booster doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11 at least 5 months after their second Pfizer dose.
Scheduling Boosters for Children Aged 5-11
Vaccines for children are only administered at specific UT Health RGV locations.
Please call 1-833-888-2268 and our scheduling professionals will help secure an appointment for your child.
NOTE:
- Children aged 5 and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get a third dose at least 4 weeks after their second dose.
- Currently, the Pfizer vaccine is the only authorized and recommended vaccine for children between the ages of 5 and 17.
All children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Second Boosters for Eligible Groups
The CDC has also strengthened its recommendation that people aged 12+ who are immunocompromised and those aged 50+ should receive a second booster dose at least 4 months after their first.
