Holiday Schedule: COVID-19 & Flu Vaccines
Dear UTRGV Family,
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), getting a COVID-19 booster is now considered an essential step toward safeguarding yourself from severe illness, hospitalization, or death caused by the highly contagious and dominant Omicron variant.
Because of this, all people ages 16+ who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for at least 6 months should get a booster as soon as possible.
COVID-19 Vaccines/Boosters & Flu Shots
To mitigate the dual risk of influenza (flu) amid the ongoing pandemic, UT Health RGV continues to offer eligible individuals flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna).
All patients seeking COVID-19 boosters must present their vaccine card to confirm vaccination status during the appointment.
Please refer to this holiday schedule when planning your vaccination visits.

Parents of Children Ages 5 and Older:
- The lower-dose Pfizer vaccine is the only COVID-19 vaccine to be authorized and recommended for use in children aged 5-11 years and should be administered as a two-dose series, three weeks apart — just as it is for those aged 12 and up.
- Appointments for each child’s second dose will be scheduled on-site.
- All children under age 18 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.
For more vaccine information, including how to support children during the vaccination process, visit the CDC’s website on COVID-19 Vaccines for Children and Teens.
Thank you for your continued trust in UT Health RGV throughout this unprecedented vaccination effort.
