Students: Flu Alert - Campus Outbreaks and Prevention
Dear Students,
Warnings from health and medical experts are taking form as colleges and universities around the country battle influenza (flu) outbreaks within their campus communities. With the holiday season upon us, the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from infection is to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
As a reminder, all UTRGV students can get a flu shot for FREE by calling and scheduling an appointment at the following UT Health RGV Student Health locations:
UT Health RGV Student Health (Brownsville)*
Cortez Hall, Suite 237
Brownsville, TX 78520
(956) 882-3896
UT Health RGV Student Health (Edinburg)
613 N. Sugar Road
Edinburg, TX 78539
(956) 665-2511
Please have your student ID on hand during visit.
Two Vaccines. One UTRGV.
While vaccines and boosters are slowing the spread of COVID-19, please remember: We are still in a pandemic. Now that the flu is widely circulating, it’s never been more important for each of us to get vaccinated against these two viruses.
TIP: You can even save time by getting your flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine (or booster) during the same visit, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its Advisory Committee on Immunizations Practices (ACIP).
For more on influenza and vaccines, visit the CDC’s FAQs about the 2021-2022 flu season.
Thank you for doing your part to protect yourself and prevent an outbreak.
