Be Prepared: Thanksgiving and Holiday Gatherings

Friday, November 5, 2021 :: UTRGV Announcements

Dear UTRGV Family,

Despite the decrease in total COVID-19 cases, we are still in a pandemic. That’s why we want to strongly encourage all faculty, staff, and students to remain vigilant, especially during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

As a reminder, any in-person gatherings on campus must adhere to UTRGV’s event protocols. If you’re planning to host or attend a gathering, follow these steps to help ensure all campus community members can celebrate safely:

Prior to the gathering, review the Daily Self-Screening/Reporting Process.

Icon of a syninge.

Make sure you are fully vaccinated* before attending the gathering.

Icon of a fork and knife.

All food and drinks served should be prepackaged so people can “grab and go” if they please.

Icon of a face mask.

Wear a face covering* indoors and when you are not eating/drinking.

If possible, keep a distance of at least 6 feet from others.

*UTRGV cannot require you to get vaccinated against COVID-19 nor can the University require you to wear a face covering on campus.

For more information, including resources on how to protect yourself and others on campus, visit utrgv.edu/commitment.

Have a safe and healthy holiday season.

Sincerely,

UTRGV COVID Response Team.
