Top 3 Questions to Ask Yourself Daily
Dear UTRGV Family,
We’ve all missed a lot over the past 18 months. But what we’ve missed more than anything is you.
For many of us, the Fall 2021 Semester marks a return to in-person activities. And while there’s nothing like being on our campuses and in our facilities, we only want you here if you are truly well.
Daily Self-Screening
You expect the best from your university — and we expect you to make the best decisions when it comes to your health and safety. That’s why all UTRGV students and employees must review the following COVID-19 Daily Self-Screening questions prior to entering any campus or off-campus facility:
- Have you been in close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period)?
- Do you have a measured temperature greater than 100.0°F, or feelings of fever or chills?
- Do you have a new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, muscle pain or body aches, nausea, vomiting, headache, loss of taste or smell, or diarrhea?
If you answer YES to any of these questions or have previously tested for COVID-19 and have not been officially released by a member of the UTRGV COVID-19 Response Team, you are NOT ALLOWED to visit campus/off-campus facilities.
Instead, your next step should be to fill out the Preliminary COVID-19 Screening Form.
Fall 2021 Expectations
We believe Fall 2021 can be a safe and successful semester — but we need you to do your part. There are currently no local, state, or national COVID-19 health mandates that enable UTRGV to require the wearing of face coverings or vaccinations within our campus community. And while UTRGV is not currently enforcing social distancing, the university continues to strongly encourage the use of face coverings, especially in settings when distancing is not possible. Because of these limitations, we all must consider the consequences of our actions and how each choice affects ourselves, our families, friends, and colleagues.
Whatever happens in the weeks and months ahead, rest assured that UTRGV has the experience and mechanisms in place to facilitate the uninterrupted continuation of your academic and professional journeys.
