COVID-19 REMINDER: Screening & Testing Process
Dear UTRGV Family,
With vaccine distribution ramping up nationwide, many medical experts believe we are going in the right direction. But while we may be making progress, now is not the time to let our guard down.
For your reference, here is a quick overview of UTRGV’s COVID-19 Screening & Testing Process:
- If you are sick OR believe you were exposed to someone with COVID-19 OR recently tested positive for COVID-19, go home immediately or stay home and self-isolate. You can continue to study or work from home if your job permits and you feel well enough to do so.
- Complete the Preliminary COVID-19 Screening Form. Once submitted, a member of the COVID Response Team will promptly contact you to determine if you require testing (at a UTRGV site) or quarantine/self-isolation (stay away from others, including members of your household).
- Wait for your test results (if testing is needed). DO NOT go to campus for any reason until your test results are known and reported to the COVID Response Team.
- Submit your test results (if testing is needed). Positive or negative, you must submit all test results to the COVID Response Team for medical review. This requirement applies to all tests within the last 90 days.
- NOTE: If you test positive at a non-UTRGV site, you must also submit a copy of the test results for medical review.
- Wait to be released (if told to quarantine or self-isolate). The COVID Response Team will send an email detailing your official clearance. Until then, you are not allowed on campus. Submit this letter to your supervisor or instructor.
Supervisors and Instructors
If you have students or staff who have been out sick with possible COVID-19-related symptoms, please ask them to provide you with a copy of their clearance email from the COVID Response Team before allowing them to return to campus. The COVID Response Team cannot share this sensitive information with you. It is up to each student and employee to share that directly with you.
By following these steps, you can help save lives - even your own. Thank you for doing your part to protect our UTRGV Family.
Sincerely,
