Message from the President: Spring Relief Package!
Dear Vaqueros:
We’ve done it again.
When we launched our revamped Fall Relief Package a few months ago, we said we’d be sending more help your way come spring. Well today, I’m happy to announce that UTRGV is making good on that promise by providing you with more relief.
It brings me great joy to formally introduce our new Spring Relief Package, which will provide $500 in cash grants to eligible students and up to $250 in Tuition Relief for non-CARES Act eligible students.
If you’re enrolled for the Spring 2021 Semester, have a completed 2020-2021 FAFSA on file, and meet the eligibility requirements by December 18th, here’s what you can expect:
- During the week preceding the Spring 2021 Semester, we will provide all eligible students with a cash grant of $250 to offset expenses associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Starting the week of February 1st, UTRGV will then send all eligible students who are still enrolled a second $250 cash grant.
- In addition, UTRGV will once again use institutional funds to help all students who are not eligible to receive cash grants with up to $250 in Tuition Relief (not fees) after current Federal and State aid (like Pell Grant and Texas Grant), scholarships, and other gift aid are applied. Any remaining tuition balance not covered by the above programs can be covered by the Tuition Relief package up to $250.
- Current and newly enrolled Freshmen who graduated from high school in or after May 2020, and students in fully online programs (see FAQs) who by law are not eligible for CARES funds, are eligible to receive up to $250 in Tuition Relief from UTRGV.
I’m so proud of each and every one of you. Getting here has not been easy, but you have persevered! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to bettering yourself, your university, and your communities.
As always, your safety and success remain our top priority. You’re the reason why we do what we do. And because of you, Vaquero Nation is more resilient than ever.
Keep Your Vs Up!
Sincerely,
Guy Bailey
President
