Dear Vaqueros Family:

As we approach the Labor Day holiday weekend, we want to acknowledge UTRGV employees and the contributions they make to the social and economic well-being of South Texas, the state, and nation.

While Labor Day is traditionally a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate this important occasion, we continue to encourage you to exercise caution in protecting yourself and others from the COVID-19 pandemic by following health protocols. Our continued efforts to follow health protocols - both individually and collectively as an institution - are key to keeping our university community safe and is contributing to the decrease in positive cases in the RGV.

The best way to protect yourself and to help reduce the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19 is to:

Wear a face cover.

Wash your hands.

Maintain six feet
of distance from others.

Limit your interactions with other people as much as possible, including social distancing with family from outside of your immediate household.
Take precautions to help prevent getting or transmitting COVID-19 when you do interact with others.
Wear cloth face coverings in public settings.
Wash hands frequently for a minimum of 20 seconds.
Cough into the bend of your elbow.
Avoid close contact by practicing physical distancing (staying at least 6 feet away from others) even when outside.
Stay home, especially if you are sick.
