Parents and Caretaker Guidance & Resources
Balancing work schedules and remote work with childcare in these turbulent times can be challenging and we want to thank everyone for their continued commitment and hard work over the last few months.
Considering announcements regarding K-12 schools adjusting their Fall instruction, we understand that this may impact initial return to campus plans. As you continue to make plans regarding childcare or your caretaker responsibilities, we would like to remind you of available resources to support you.
Similar to previous guidance indicated in the Return to Campus guides and other related training available via Blackboard and the training portal, we encourage flexibility and are recommending that you coordinate directly with your supervisor regarding a potential schedule or solution that allows you to meet your caretaker responsibilities in addition to work obligations. The plan may vary for each employee based on the unique circumstances each employee faces and departmental needs.
If it is determined that an employee cannot complete their job duties remotely or a flexible solution can’t be reached, we recommend supervisors contact the Office of Human Resources, HR Business Partners at hrpartners@utrgv.edu or (956) 665-2451 for further guidance and alternative accommodations. For more information on possible leave options, such as leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), please contact leave@utrgv.edu.
We would like to remind you that our Employee Assistance Program is a valuable, no cost, and confidential resource. A "Coping with COVID-19" webinar series, which includes topics such as "Tips for surviving school when school is at home" and "Challenges for parents during COVID-19", is available on the EAP website (Username and password is uteap).
If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with your supervisor or email hr@utrgv.edu.
