REOPENING UPDATE: Auxiliary Services
Dear Campus Community:
Campus Auxiliary Service operations will begin re-opening services on campus effective June 1, 2020. We have implemented changes intended to keep our customers and employees safe and will operate in accordance with CDC, state and institutional guidelines.
Preventive measures will be exercised including use of face coverings/masks, washing of hands, social distancing with floor markings, plexiglass barriers, de-densification by reducing to 25% occupancy, increased cleaning and disinfection practices and contactless service. Some services will be provided on an appointment basis such as access to University Recreation or meeting room space in the Student Union. Virtual services and activities will continue to be available throughout the summer. Modifications may be implemented as conditions permit.
We ask for your cooperation and patience as we begin our return to campus with everyone’s safety in mind.
Campus Stores & Vaquero Tech Center
Campus Stores & Vaquero Tech Centers located in Brownsville and Edinburg will re-open on June 1, 2020.
Summer hours of operation: Monday – Friday (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)
- For a contactless shopping experience, visit us at SHOPUTRGV.COM for all academic course materials, supplies, spirit clothing, accessories, gifts and technology needs that can be shipped direct to your home.
- Use your financial aid dollars to pay for textbooks in-store or online.
- Don’t forget to use your VBucks included in the Summer Relief Package for course material purchases for the Fall semester.

- Customers are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines and remain 6 feet (2 meters) apart while visiting the campus stores.
- Plexiglass barriers have been installed at customer check out stations
- Vaquero Tech Centers community seating will be closed
- Cleaning and disinfecting practices will be exercised based on Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
- Employees will exercise appropriate hand washing practices and wear face coverings/masks in adherence to institutional protocols.

Food Services
Food service will be available in Edinburg and Brownsville during the summer.
- Chick-Fil-A will re-open on June 4 th in the Student Union in Edinburg
- Summer Hours of service will be Monday – Thursday (11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)
- Contactless service available by ordering on GrubHub mobile app
- Marketplace food kiosk will be available at MAIN in Brownsville on June 1 st and is available 24/7. Food offerings includes a variety of sandwiches, fruit or yogurt cups, fruit, protein bars, beverages, snacks.
- Customers are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines and remain 6 feet apart while visiting our Dining venues.
- Plexiglass barriers have been installed at cashiering stations.
- Food Service venues are cleaned and disinfected utilizing guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- Employees will exercise appropriate hand washing practices and wear face coverings/masks in adherence with institutional protocols.

Housing and Residence Life
Student housing is available for on campus apartments for students who do not have a suitable housing alternative. Starting on June 1, residents can apply for on campus housing and continue residing on campus with certain safety restrictions in place.
Virtual Hours of Operation (by appointment only): Monday – Friday (8 am – 5 pm)
What can you expect?
- Preventive measures that will be taken to protect you and our staff:
- Social distancing
- Visitors are not allowed to prevent risk of infection in spaces that may be shared with others.
- To protect residents and employees, residents may be asked to temporarily leave apartments during health and safety inspections or maintenance.
- All residents and staff will abide by physical distancing guidelines unless injury, risk mitigation, or safety measure require otherwise.
- At the Casa Bella Apartments, the clubhouse, gym, and pool will remain closed until further notice.
- Mail and Packages - By appointment at Casa Bella and Village Apartments (for packages).
- Employees will adhere to wearing of masks, gloves when appropriate, maintain social distancing, etc.

- Virtual Peer Advising Sessions and activities with Resident Assistants
- Residents are encouraged to review and follow CDC recommendations for living in shared spaces, which includes maintaining social distancing practices around people they don't live with, wearing face coverings in public spaces outside of their room, washing their hands regularly, and cleaning frequently touched surfaces daily.

Our goal is always to provide a safe and healthy environment for our residents and implement precautions as recommended by the CDC, state, county and local authorities. Housing and Residence Life has been working diligently in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, and implementing plans as situations evolve.

Student Union
The Student Unions on the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses will open on June 1, 2020.
Summer Hours of Operation: Monday – Thursday (10:00 am – 2:00 pm).
What can you expect?
- Students will have access to La Sala in Brownsville and the Commons areas in Edinburg
- Both Unions will have a limit of 25% occupancy.
- To keep our patrons safe, seating has been reduced and placed with 6’ of separation.
- Meeting rooms will be available for 10 persons or less. Contact conferences@utrgv.edu for scheduling information.
- Game Rooms will remain closed during Summer I.
- Student Union activities will be offered virtually. Visit our Facebook page or any of our social media platforms for dates and times.
- Cleaning practices will be more frequent.

University Recreation (UREC)
University Recreation recognizes the essential nature of overall health and wellness for all of our patrons during this difficult time. Starting on June 1, the Edinburg UREC facility will re-open sections of the building with schedule modifications and 25% occupancy restrictions in place.
Summer Hours of Operation: Monday – Thursday (10:00 am – 5:00 pm)
What can you expect?
- The facility has been reconfigured to accommodate patrons for a 25% capacity limit while reinforcing social distancing requirements.
- Appointment Scheduling will be made through IM Leagues - A scheduling system will be implemented using IM Leagues. Members will need to download the IM Leagues App. UREC will provide instructions and assistance as to how to set up accounts and provide information as to how to reserve times and spaces in the facility. Time slots are preset in IM Leagues for 30 minutes.
- All regular entrance policies are still applicable (ie. appropriate athletic attire, UTRGV ID needed upon entry into the facility, etc.)
- Preventive measures that will be taken to protect you and our members:
- Patrons will be required to bring your own facial covering and full finger gloves in accordance with Texas State Department of Health and Human Services minimum recommended health protocols.
- Patrons will complete a health questionnaire upon entrance indicating they are not experiencing physical symptoms of COVID-19.
- Patrons must wipe down equipment before and after use of equipment.
- All patrons and staff will abide by physical distancing guidelines unless injury, risk mitigation, or safety measure require otherwise.
- Enhanced Cleaning and Disinfection – The facility will have opening and closing blocks scheduled when we will ask patrons to vacate so that our staff can not only clean, but disinfect the facility for the next scheduled group.
The UREC team recognizes that the new parameters may be challenging for some; however, we ask for your understanding and cooperation. We are committed to doing what we can to try to provide as safe of an environment as we can so that our members can get into the facility.

V One Card
ID Card Office is available to serve you remotely during the summer months.
Contactless service is provided using our V OneCard GET portal. You can submit a request for your official University issued identification card (known as V OneCard) using our Online ID Request Process (click here for a step by step instruction guide). The GET portal allows you to upload your photo ID, an ID card will be printed remotely and mailed to your home address. Super easy and no waiting in lines!
