COVID-19 Update: New Governor's Executive Orders
Dear Campus Community:
Governor Greg Abbott issued today three new Executive Orders to begin the process of reopening Texas while revising hospital capacity and certain social distancing guidelines.
Within the orders, select activities and services that pose minimal to no threat of spreading COVID-19 are allowed to reopen using a "Retail-To-Go" model, certain restrictions on surgeries have been loosened, and schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. Find more information regarding the new orders here.
How does this affect me?
Based on this new information, UTRGV’s current operations will not change. The university will continue to:
- offer academic courses and student services online or in a remote setting for the remainder of the spring semester and for the summer semester;
- have most of our workforce work from home and only require essential employees and employees whose work cannot be conducted from home to report to campus/off-campus facilities; and
- allow students and employees to access campus/off-campus facilities for essential services as long as social distancing and other city/county and CDC health guidelines are being followed.
Please remember, if you do access our campuses/off-campus facilities, we ask that you review this six-question survey before your visit to help maintain the health and safety of our on-campus community.
We will continue to monitor the governor’s process of reopening Texas and provide updates when necessary.
Thank you for your patience during this extremely fluid situation. Our main concern continues to be the health and safety of our UTRGV community.
Please regularly check your email for the latest updates or visit our resource webpage.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your supervisor or email coronavirus@utrgv.edu.
