COVID-19 (coronavirus) Update: Edinburg Stay-At-Home Order
The City of Edinburg issued a mandatory stay-at-home order for its residents that went into effect at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.
UTRGV has confirmed with the city that the order has exceptions and UTRGV falls within those exceptions because we perform essential government functions as a state education institution.
As of Monday, UTRGV proactively moved as many employees as possible to work from home, which means our Edinburg residents are already following the guidance provided by the city regarding essential staffing.
Nonetheless, as these stay-at-home/shelter-in-place orders continue to be issued by our cities and counties, we know this can be a confusing time. Below is guidance in your role as a member of the UTRGV community during these orders.
We Are Here for You
While most of UTRGV’s operations are already being conducted remotely, our campuses remain open only to provide essential services to students, faculty and staff.
Please rest assured that the university is working diligently to ensure all CDC social distancing guidelines are being observed at all our campuses and off-campus sites.
How Does This Affect Me?
Students
- Should continue staying home and continue taking classes remotely.
- May continue accessing our campuses/facilities for student services (health clinics, library, computer labs, etc.), as needed.
- May also access student services by phone or online communications.
- Should continue reporting to work at our campuses/facilities, if deemed essential.
- Should continue working from home, if previously authorized to do so.
- Should carry a UTRGV ID at all times as evidence of your essential status with the university.
Employees
