COVID-19 Update: Travel

Friday, March 13, 2020 :: Office of the Vice President for Administrative Support Services

Dear Campus Community:

We apologize for the volume of messages but as we shared earlier, this is a fluid situation. We are committed to providing updates as we have them.

As of today, the Office of the Governor is requiring that all state agencies cancel non-essential travel and all international travel. All state agency-related conferences should also be postponed until further notice. Based on this new guidance, please see below.

International Travel:

All state agencies are required to cancel all international travel. If travel is already booked, it may remain booked until seven (7) days prior to the expected date.

Domestic Travel:

All state agencies are required to cancel all non-domestic travel. If travel is already booked, it may remain booked until seven (7) days prior to the expected date.

Domestic travel to the following states continues to be suspended:

  • California
  • New York
  • Washington
  • Massachusetts

All Essential Travel:

  • All Travel must be booked through the University’s Travel System iTravel/Concur.
  • Travelers should consider their planned trips(s) and expect delays or cancellations. It is recommended to contact travel locations to ensure conferences/meetings are still taking place.
  • Upon return from essential domestic travel, all students, faculty, and staff must complete a brief form to document their travel history and to assess whether additional screening or evaluation may be necessary.

We continue to monitor the current COVID–19 and will send notification of any adjustments as they arise.

For any questions regarding University related travel please contact Travel Services Office at travel@utrgv.edu 665-2161, 665-2612, 882-3822

Our main concern continues to be the health, safety, and security of our UTRGV community.

Sincerely,

Doug Arney
Vice President for Administrative Support Services
