20 Years of Teaching Turned on Its Head
Abstract:
Education is a constantly evolving creature and the over the last twenty years we have transitioned from blackboards and overheads to fully immersive online virtual education experiences. The purpose of this presentation will be to review the newest and most ardent techniques in education and illustrate their impact on today’s students. Using an applied history approach coupled peer reviewed research and proportional anecdotal evidence, attendees will explore a variety of changes in educational techniques utilized in the health sciences and how each a has impacted student learning for better or worse, especially in the last two years dealing with the sudden shift in techniques due to the pandemic. The main topics to be covered in this presentation include use of online learning tools, websites and software in conjunction with traditional lecture, flipped classroom and hybrid learning experiences.
