VCOBE Student Organizations

Student organizations play an important role in campus life at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and in the Robert C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship. Joining a student organization gives you opportunities to expand and enhance your overall educational experience, improve your social life, gain self-confidence, acquire leadership skills, and learn how to function as a member of a group or a team. Getting involved in student organizations can be one of the greatest, most rewarding experiences you will have while you are in college.

American Marketing Association – AMA

AMA

AMA is the world’s largest and most comprehensive professional society of marketers. This organization does its finest to introduce networking opportunities, provide local paid and non-paid internships with reputable businesses, conduct professional development workshops that will prepare the members for their future careers, and inspire effective leadership skills.

Enactus – Enactus

Enactus

Enactus at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley aims to provide lasting impact to our local community. Our mission is: As servant leaders we strive to achieve sustainable economic growth by building strong partnerships. Our values are sustainability, empowerment, and entrepreneurship.  

 

Association of Latino Professionals for America – ALPFA

Alpfa

ALPFA creates opportunities, adds value and builds relationships for its members, the community and business partners. Thus, expanding minority leadership in the global workforce. ALPFA is the premier minority organization that promotes professional development in business minded students. 

 

Society for Human Resource Management – SHRM

SHRM

SHRM serves the needs of the human resource management professional by providing the most essential and comprehensive set of resources available. In addition, the Society is committed to advancing the human resource profession and the capabilities of all human resource professionals to ensure that HR is an essential and effective partner in developing and executing organizational strategy

  

Economics and Finance Society – EFS

EFS

The purpose of the Economics and Finance Society is to promote the study of Economics & Finance to the student body of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and to provide a community and advancement opportunities for present and future members.

 

Institute of Management Accountants – IMA

IMA

 

IMA is an organization that provides professional networking and internship opportunities to students within the accounting and finance departments. Our vision is to be the leading resource for developing and supporting UTRGV students to be the best accountants and financial professionals in business.

 

Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization – CEO

CEO

Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) is the premier entrepreneurship network with chapters in North America and beyond university campuses. We Inform, Support, and Inspire new students to be more entrepreneurial to be a new venture creation. We also participate in CEO global conference and pitch competition.

 

Hospitality and Tourism Management Student Organization – HOST

 HOST

The HOST club aims to provide all students at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in the hospitality and tourism industry. The organization will help its’ members develop a strong professional identity on campus and in the community. The organization will serve as a vehicle that will allow students to connect with leaders in the industry.

 

Association for Information Technology Professionals – AITP

AITP

AITP is the leading worldwide society of information technology business professionals and the community of knowledge for the current and next generation of leaders. We strive to serve our members by delivering relevant technology and leadership education, research and information on current business and technology issues, and forums for networking and collaboration.

 

Master of Business Administration Association – MBA-A

MBAA

The purpose of the organization is to provide a stimulus platform to provide a lifelong competitive advantage along with opportunities to its constituents. The organization shall ensure exposure & networking opportunities driven by engagement in group activities & individual initiatives. Professional development, business ethics, & social interaction among its members shall be encouraged.

 

Beta Alpha Psi – BAP

BAP 

We are a nonprofit international honor and service organization for accounting, finance, business analytics, and digital technology students. Beta Alpha Psi provides opportunities for developing technical and professional skills to complement university education, participation in community service, and interaction among students, faculty, and professionals.

 

Brownsville Accounting Association – BAA

 BAA

The purpose of the BAA is to promote the study and practice of accounting; to provide opportunities for personal improvement; to encourage social and professional networking of its affiliates, business professionals, faculty, and alumni; and to instill a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibilities among its constituents.
