I put my child on the waiting list when I was pregnant. Why don't I have a space yet?

Most of our infants spaces are filled with siblings of enrolled children. Currently enrolled families receive a sibling priority on our waiting list. This is the most requested and needed age group.

My husband and I are both employed with UTRGV. Is there a priority when both parents are affiliated with the university?

The only priority that is given on the waiting list is to siblings of enrolled children.

How can I check my status on the waiting list?

To check the status of your application email us at childcare@utrgv.edu.

I am planning to get pregnant next year.

You must have a due date to get on the waiting list. Apart from children being adopted, the due date or date of birth may not be more than 9 months from your application date.

Is there a fee to put my child on the waiting list?

There is no fee to put your child on the waitlist.

Is there a Child Development Center at the UTRGV Brownsville Campus?

Currently there is not a CDC at the Brownsville location.

I am an employee of the university. Is my grandchild/niece/nephew eligible to use the childcare program?

Grandparents or any other family member working for the university would not be eligible unless they have legal guardianship or custody of their grandchild. (proof will be required)

I am an alumni of the university. Am I eligible to use the childcare center?

Yes, we offer services to only UTRGV/UTPA/UTB alumni.

I am a community member. Am I eligible to use the childcare center?

Yes, we offer services to community but only to State/Federal Employees.

I was offered a spot at the CDC, but I would like to decline until next year. Can I do that?

Families are welcome to decline a childcare space with no penalty. We will simply offer the opening to the next family and you will need to submit another Pre-Enrollment Form to be placed back on the waiting list.

I have been on the childcare waiting list for two years and no longer need the space. Can I give my place on the waiting list to a family member or co-worker?

Families on the waiting list may not give their space on thee list to another family member or co-worker. They would have to fill out their own Pre-Enrollment Form.
