The College Access and K-12 Partnerships awards will be announced during the College Access and K-12 Partnerships Spring Retreat on the Brownsville Campus. The timeline to follow is:

  • Close Applications- March 30
  • Review of Application and Determine or vote for finalists - Mid April 
  • Announcement of Finalists- May

Student Employee of the Year Award

The College Access and K-12 Partnerships Student Employee of the Year Award recognizes the contributions of student employees to the university community and honors their efforts. College Access and K-12 Partnerships staff may nominate a student employee who is enrolled in a UTRGV degree program at least half-time and has completed or expects to complete at least three months of part-time employment during academic year­­­­­­ 2019-2020­­­­­­­­­. Work-study, direct wage, SEI student and Graduate Student employees are eligible for nomination. Nominators may nominate more than one student.

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must be:

  • Enrolled in a UTRGV degree program at least half time.
  • A degree-seeking part-time or full-time student.
  • Complete or expect to complete at least six months of employment during the academic year 2019-2020
  • Maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0.
  • Must be in good academic standing with the University and must not have any disciplinary corrective action on file.
  • Departmental supervisors can submit their nominations online. Only one nomination per student will be accepted. Departments may nominate multiple students.

Criteria

  • Demonstrated outstanding reliability, initiative, leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Goes the extra mile each day to ensure the success of the office or program through their assigned duties.
  • Made an outstanding contribution to improving the office during the academic year.

Rookie of the Year Award

The purpose of the Rookie of the Year Award is to recognize and distinguish a new Classified employee (a year or less who has shown outstanding performance in his/her current position.)

Rookie of the Year Nominees for this award should have a remarkable ability to adjust to a new work environment while demonstrating outstanding enthusiasm, creativity, a high level of energy, and ability to make a significant contribution to any College Access and K-12 Partnerships department. The employee should be able to complete job assignments and perform job responsibilities with minimum supervision.

The nominees will be recognized during a ceremony in the ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­2020 Spring Retreat.  The Rookie of the year will be awarded a Certificate and recognized campus-wide. 

Eligibility

  • All nominees for the Rookie of the Year Award must be employed a minimum of 6 months and no more than one year at any department or program within the College Access and K-12 Partnerships unit.
  • Must be a fulltime, benefits-eligible, classified employee.
  • Must be in good standing with the Office of Human Resources and must not have any disciplinary corrective action on the file.

Criteria

The nominee will have demonstrated the following characteristics:

  • Ability to adjust to a new work environment
  • Creativity
  • Initiative
  • Self-motivation
  • A unique contribution to the department

Employee of the Year Award Program

The Employee of the Year Award Program recognizes and rewards exemplary performance by College Access and K-12 Partnerships employees based both on the performance of their responsibilities as outlined in their position description and on their specific contributions to the mission, goals, values, and strategic plan of the unit.

The nominees will be recognized during a ceremony in the ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­2020 Spring Retreat.  The Employee of the year will be awarded a Certificate and recognized campus-wide.  

Eligibility

  • Nominees must be employed for a minimum of one year with the College Access and K-12 Partnerships unit.
  • Must be a fulltime, benefits-eligible, classified employee.
  • Must be in good standing with the Office of Human Resources and must not have any disciplinary corrective action on the file.
  • Must be up to date on all compliance training.
  • Directors would be excluded from this award

Leadership Award

This award is presented to a staff member who has demonstrated true leadership regardless of title and position. This is a member of the College Access and K-12 Partnerships community who has shown commitment and passion for the Unit and its mission regardless of leadership position and has shown a willingness to support efforts of the Unit and the Institution

The nominees will be recognized during a ceremony in the ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­2020 Spring ­Retreat.  The Leadership Award will be awarded a Certificate and recognized campus-wide. 

 

Eligibility

  • Must be a fulltime, benefits-eligible employee.
  • Open to all employees Director and below.
  • Must be in good standing with the Office of Human Resources and must not have any disciplinary corrective action on the file.
  • Must be up to date on all compliance training.

Criteria

The nominee will have demonstrated excellence in the following areas:

Collaboration of the Year Award

The Collaboration of the year Award recognizes ­­­­­effective and strategic collaboration between College Access and K-12 Partnerships departments and programs based on documented impact programming had on its target audience.

The nominees will be recognized during a ceremony in the ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­2020 Spring Retreat.  The Employee of the year will be awarded a Certificate and recognized campus-wide. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, departments/programs must have:

  • Involved 3 or more parties in the overall planning and execution of the event.
  • taken place during the academic year 2019-2020

Criteria

  • Fulfill the mission of the Unit/ University
  • Impact that the event/project on participant
  • How did this program improve from past versions as a result of the new collaborations?
  • How did this program nurture teamwork between program staff and Programs?
  • Must submit documentation i.e. Surveys, testimonials, letters of support to demonstrate its effectiveness, pictures.

Summer Program of The year

The Summer Program of the year Award recognizes any outstanding programming that took place during Summer 2019. Programming may have involved students, external community partners, staff or others, and aligned to the Unit/University mission. 

The nominees will be recognized during a ceremony in the ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­2020 Spring Retreat.  The Summer Program of the Year will be awarded a Certificate and recognized campus-wide. 

Eligibility

Must have fulfilled all the summer program requirements, if applicable.

Criteria

  • Align with the mission of the Unit/ University.
  • Impact that the event/project had on the participant.
  • Effectively used resources to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Demonstrated innovation
