Asian Studies, Interdisciplinary Minor
The Minor in Asian Studies will provide a coherent and well-guided pathway for our students to develop academic and research foundation of Asian studies, communicative language proficiency, and cultural understandings. With a variety of courses in this interdisciplinary minor, students will acquire in-depth knowledge of the region and facilitate discussions on critical issues of Asia. It will be an important avenue of access to training of academic, linguistic, and cultural competence to become global-minded professionals in the areas of students’ majors.
Upon the completion of the Minor in Asian Studies:
- Students will demonstrate basic communicative competence in at least one Asian language for active and collaborative intercultural communications.
- Students will demonstrate intermediate proficiency in an Asian language with appropriate socio-cultural uses of the language in communicative and professional contexts.
- Students will discuss critical issues of the modern society of an Asian country in an in-depth understanding of politics, society, culture, arts, performances, or history of the country.
