ACT Lab
Welcome to the UTRGV ACT Lab, where Dr. Ruby Charak serves as the Director. Our mission is centered around conducting in-depth and meaningful research aimed at advancing the understanding, prevention, and treatment of individuals who have experienced childhood adversities, including child maltreatment, polyvictimization, revictimization, and related mental health issues in adolescents and emerging adults. Additionally, we investigate posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, developmental trauma, and co-occurring mental health disorders, such as substance use and depression. With a keen awareness of the unique challenges faced by individuals with multiple marginalization experiences, Dr. Charak has a strong commitment to working with LGBTQIA+, and racially and ethnically individuals, ensuring that her research is inclusive and culturally sensitive.
We invite you to explore our lab, discover our ongoing research initiatives, and stay connected with us via LinkedIn | ResearchGate.
