Description: This program is intended to supplement, not replace, Departmental/School travel funding, which will remain the primary source for funding faculty travel. Thus, cost sharing by Departments/Schools and/or Colleges is required unless the Chair/Director or Dean certifies that all Departmental/School/College travel funds have been exhausted.

Description: The purpose of Faculty Research Grants is to encourage faculty to think creatively and author research projects that will directly and clearly contribute to globalization at UTRGV. Travel abroad for research or to conferences will be considered under these grants.
Eligibility: All UTRGV adjunct, lecturer, tenured, or tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply.
Faculty members are allowed to submit multiple applications for different projects during the same fiscal year.
Proposals may have more than one author/investigator.
Proposals must be received by OGE no less than one month (or 30 days) PRIOR to the stated start date of the project.
Funded part of projects must conclude prior to the end of the fiscal year. All research involving interventions or interactions with individuals, or the collection of identifiable private information concerning living individuals, requires prospective Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval. Grantees are responsible for obtaining IRB approval when required, and must provide documentation of IRB approval before a grant can be awarded.

Description: The purpose of the Global Opportunities Grants is to encourage faculty to think creatively and author projects that will contribute to globalization at UTRGV. Travel abroad or to conferences by the applicant(s) will not be considered under these grants. Travel by invited speakers for events will be considered under these grants.
Examples of possible initiatives include, but are not limited to: the development of professional relationships (visiting scholars, etc.), forums or conferences, cultural showings or performances, presentations, education, and other experiences that will directly enhance internationalization of the campus or community in innovative ways.

Description: The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), a program of the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, offers multiple funding opportunities, such as the Core Fulbright Scholar Program and the Outreach Lecturing Fund (OLF).
Eligibility: Vary by award.
Description: Travel funds are available to certain faculty in the Department of Political Science who are making a presentation, such as a paper, workshop, roundtable, or author-meets-critics session. If funding is available, additional funds may be provided for taking on additional & responsibilities at a conference such as acting as a discussant or sitting on a second panel or roundtable. The Department approved this policy on April 8, 2016.
