Programs
The purpose of the Upward Bound Program is to generate in program participants the skills and motivation necessary to complete a program of secondary education and to enter and succeed in a program of post-secondary education.
Upward Bound hosts events year-round. Events include tutorials, academies, parent meetings, enrichment excursions, community service, and summer enrichment programs. In fact, tutoring and mentoring for our students is an integral part of the program. They provide the foundation to succeed in passing the college entrance exams (TSI, ACT and SAT).
Our summers are filled with activities as we expose our participants to the world around them. Students visit colleges and universities. Seniors begin their first Summer Session (Bridge) at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
